My husband was acting Mayor of Greensburg during the Centennial. The elected mayor was ill and Jim acted as mayor for about six months. I mostly remember that Jim and I were really busy. We had to judge a lot of contests. We entertained the Governor of Indiana the day that he came down. We took him to the Country Club. We danced the Virginia Reel in the pageant. We rode in the parade with the governor and Walter Lowe. Truth is, we both had jobs, Jim at Randall and I worked at Bohn Aluminum in the personnel office, and we were so busy that I look back now and wonder how we did it. There was something fun going on in town at all times and we loved every minute of it. People have seen the film that Fred Craig made of the week of the Centennial and say they didn't know Jim was acting mayor at that time. It was work but made wonderful memories.
